Medium is not the only place you can earn money for writing online.

Yes, Medium is a fantastic way to earn money from writing only. However, many of us are unaware of how to earn money writing on other platforms. These platforms are built to give writers opportunities to network and boost their earnings.

Here are some tips that have helped me along the way.

1. Sign up to Freelancing Marketplaces (Start with Fiverr)

There are websites you can sign up for free that will pay you for your work. Fiverr, Vocal, and Upwork will pay you for writing. Try to start with only one of them. Most people start with Fiverr as Fiverr is open to freelancers of all experience levels. Fiverr has a large user base that spans the globe. This means you have the potential to reach clients from different industries and regions, increasing your chances of finding work. Fiverr is also a platform with various writing services you can offer, including content creation, copywriting, technical writing, editing, and blog posts. This allows you to showcase your expertise with different writing styles and niches.

2. Study the writers in your niche

Once you have signed up to write on these platforms, research other writers in your niche. Observe other writers' work for inspiration. Find out how they are writing, pricing and selling their work. Remember, the internet is filled with writers offering their services, which makes it competitive to stand out and secure well-paying opportunities, so it's essential to start small on pricing and work your way up.

3. Work hard for testimonials

Testimonials are EVERYTHING! When you start receiving clients, work hard to produce excellent material so they can give excellent feedback and five star reviews. The more testimonials you have, the more you can charge as you now have the proof to back up the quality of your work. Keep in mind — its quality over quantity.

4. Patience (The hardest step).

This is the most important, yet the most difficult part of being a writer. Do not expect freelance writing to be a full time, or even part time income straight away. Organic growth requires skill and patience. Most successful writers wait up to a year to make enough money to be freelance writers. If that means keeping your 9–5 job in order to keep a roof over your head and food in your fridge, then so be it. Writing is an art and takes time and effort but once consistency and hard work is added to the mix, writing can be a really exciting and easy way to earn a six-figure a year income.

5. Start Today!

Too many people have never seen their dream come true because they said “One day” instead of “Day one”.

There is only one right time to start your freelance writing journey and that time is today!

It can be easy to earn money writing online, but it’s necessary to go into it with reasonable expectations. Many great online writers began with smaller projects, developed their reputations, and over time, grew their revenue. You have the ability to make a significant living from writing online if you are enthusiastic about the craft, willing to put up the effort to continually develop your abilities, and be persistent in your efforts to promote yourself.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you enjoyed please clap, comment and subscribe for more great content!
