It’s been over two weeks since I had my cholecystectomy (Gallbladder removal surgery). Thankfully, the surgery went well and there were no complications.

After my surgery, I was given strong painkillers and sent home on the same day. In hindsight, I believe that I should have stayed a little longer at the hospital as I struggled at home during the recovery process.

The first few days of recovery were awful

The pain was a mixture of pain from the laparoscopic surgery and trapped gas. I could only sleep sitting up and I was in pain all the time, even whilst taking painkillers.

I was advised to walk around after surgery to avoid the formation of blood clots. Walking was very difficult. I felt very weak and out of breath just walking to and from the bathroom.

Along with the pain and exhaustion, I was struggling to eat for the first week. I also had stomach pain whenever I ate anything. Food just went through me (Yes, I mean — diarrhoea). So, I avoided eating as much as possible so that I wouldn’t get diarrhoea.

From day 5 I started feeling better
