A haiku

It’s Monday Morning

Rain splashing on my window

I crawl back to bed

I was inspired to write this haiku this Monday morning as an illustration of how I was feeling. I wanted to remind myself that sometimes, it is okay to have a few extra minutes in bed and have a slow, relaxing morning without feeling guilty. Some mornings we are not as productive or eager to go as other mornings and this morning was just ‘one of those mornings’.

A haiku is a traditional Japanese poem that consists of three lines with a specific syllable pattern:

5 syllables in the first line
7 syllables in the second line
5 syllables in the third line.

Haikus are often inspired by nature, seasons, or moments of beauty, and they emphasize simplicity, vivid imagery, and a connection to the natural world.

Hope you had a better morning.
