The Problem with The Facebook Medium Groups

I am sure I am not the only one who has noticed.

I have done it! I’ve joined the Medium Facebook groups, and I am beyond frustrated.

Though I have found some great, wonderfully written articles, the groups seem like just a space for people to dump their stories.

I can understand the concept, especially for new writers like me who want to be seen and desperately searching for an audience to showcase their hard work to. But I feel the whole “follow-for-follow” method isn’t beneficial for anyone.

I genuinely want people who have actually enjoyed reading my articles to clap for me, not because they just felt like “they owed me claps” because I clapped for them.

I was hoping this would also be a place for people to share news, updates, tips, and ideas, where we can all grow together.

Sometimes, people post articles without explanation, just a title and a long link without description.

Surely, there must be a better way to promote and share articles in groups.

Maybe I have just joined the wrong groups, or maybe — this really does work for people in the long run.

I am not entirely sure.
